She is just 10 years old, but Johanna Brait has many titles to her name: wish child, entrepreneur, and now, hero. On August 4th, Hanna was honored at the Massachusetts State House as one of 60 “Heroes Among Us” named by the Boston Celtics. The honor is bestowed to individuals who “through their unique commitment and humanitarian spirit, have made exceptional and lasting contributions to our community.” A cancer survivor, Hanna wished to visit Disney World in 2006. She returned home with a new dream to fulfill: Hanna was inspired to raise funds for the organization that gave her hope. Hanna creates and sells “Hearts of Hope” necklaces and donates the proceeds to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. To date, she has contributed over $30,000 to support children’s wishes.
