The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Massachusetts and Rhode Island celebrated the end of our successful 2010 fiscal year on August 31. With the generous commitment of our supporters, the Foundation granted wishes to 379 children like Tyler! ________________________________________________________________________________________________
Thank you for brightening children's lives in 2010 This past year, our wish children experienced incredible dreams come true — professional room makeovers, meetings with cherished sports heroes, tropical family getaways, and so much more. Each wish is as unique as our wish children themselves. For wish child Tyler, a family trip to Walt Disney World for his 10th birthday was the perfect wish! Tyler’s dream vacation was not only a weeklong birthday party, but also a celebration of his successful completion of 25 months of chemotherapy. In August, Tyler, his brother and his parents were whisked away to sunny Florida where his parents said the only real concern was "whether we had eaten too much ice cream." This was a drastic difference from the challenges the family faced since Tyler's diagnosis of a form of leukemia. A trip to Orlando's exciting parks gave Tyler plenty of time on lightning-fast roller coasters, many of which he rode more than once! This thrill-seeker also explored splash-filled rides at SeaWorld and the speedy “Incredible Hulk” coaster at Universal Studios. On Tyler’s dream trip, he and his family experienced carefree quality time together to relax, have fun and celebrate two important milestones — at one extraordinary place! The magic of a wish creates unforgettable memories for an entire family and re-energizes courageous children like Tyler. In 2011, the Foundation will work to serve over 400 children — another step toward the ultimate goal of reaching all medically eligible children.
