Kyrah is a motivated young woman who is determined to live a full life despite the limitations of a complex congenital heart disease. An aspiring ballerina, she began teaching herself ballet from library books, studying and practicing technique at home. When Kyrah learned she would have a wish granted, her spirits soared and she knew just what to wish for: ballet lessons!
Kyrah’s wish granting began with a shopping spree to choose all of the dancewear and accessories she would need, and she was enrolled in private and group classes at a local dance studio. An eager and diligent student, Kyrah truly embraced her wish experience. She worked hard to develop her skills so that she could perform in the studio’s Nutcracker Spectacular just a few months after beginning her classes. On the eve of her thirteenth birthday, Kyrah was given a surprise: as part of her wish, she would be attending Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker! Kyrah was spellbound by the performance. During intermission, the surprise grew even bigger as she was welcomed backstage for a tour. Before she knew it, she was face-to-face with the beautiful Sugar Plum Fairy and the handsome Prince! Kyrah could feel the anticipation and energy as she watched dancers prepare for the second act. Stepping onstage behind the curtain, she imagined the thrill of performing in front of the large audience as a member of the Boston Ballet. The enchanted evening provided plenty of magical inspiration for Kyrah as she continues to enjoy her wish through her ballet classes. Now, as she practices her graceful technique en pointe in the dance studio mirror, she sees in her reflection a confident and talented ballerina with a joyful future!
