A very special thank you to Macy’s and everyone who participated in the Believe and Thanks for Sharing campaigns in 2011. We are so very proud that the Make-A-Wish Foundation® was chosen as the sole beneficiary of Believe and one of the beneficiaries of Thanks for Sharing. Here are some of the highlights of the campaigns in Massachusetts and Rhode Island: Thanks for Sharing ran from September through December and most stores met or exceeded their goals, which makes waiting for the announcement of the total raised by this campaign that much more exciting! Customers who enrolled in Thanks for Sharing will receive their rewards cards in the next few weeks.
- Believe concluded its fourth year of spreading the spirit of generosity and goodwill. “A million reasons to Believe” turned into $1.4 million for the Make-A-Wish Foundation nationally, thanks in part to the additional funds raised by Macy’s double donation on National Believe Day. We look forward to sharing final results from Massachusetts and Rhode Island stores when they are available.
- Massachusetts wish child Gillian celebrated National Believe Day at the Solomon Pond Macy’s in Marlborough, Massachusetts, where Mayor Nancy Stevens proclaimed Friday, December 9 as National Believe Day in Marlborough.
- Santa’s Bus Tour visited Massachusetts in November at the Berkshire Mall. Guests were treated to a special showing of the animated feature Yes, Virginia. The Wahconah High School Band performed and children visited with Santa at Macy’s, where Pittsfield Mayor James Ruberto presented him with a key to the city.
