Champion monster truck driver Dennis Anderson has always been a hero for young Ethan. Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at six months old, Ethan was given a 25% chance of survival. However, this strong child has risen above the odds and grown into a personable and energetic eight-year-old.
Ethan wished to meet Dennis Anderson, and Make-A-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island made it happen by sending Ethan and his family to Las Vegas for the Monster Jam World Finals!
Ethan’s wish weekend began with a ride in an enormous and powerful monster truck. When Dennis arrived at the morning’s meet and greet
event, his biggest fan spotted him immediately and headed right for him. The two chatted and posed for photos. Inquisitive Ethan had thought long and hard about a question for Dennis, and he delivered it with spunk: “How old are you?!” The little charmer received his answer, but he isn’t telling!
Ethan enjoyed meeting other drivers and checking out their trucks, and the lucky boy had plenty of time to collect autographs from all of his favorite competitors. He was even interviewed by several camera crews, and taught the driver of Wolverine how to make his special monster truck engine noise! But the clear winner of the day in Ethan’s eyes was Dennis.
During the following two days of action-packed monster truck competition, Ethan cheered for Dennis with all his might, knowing his hero was now also his friend. If the bear hug he gave Dennis is any indication, Ethan will be embracing the memories and inspiration from his wish for years to come. Judging from the way he hugged back, Dennis will be, too.
