The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Massachusetts and Rhode Island is committed to safeguarding your privacy online. The following information explains our information gathering and dissemination practices.

All financial transactions on our Site, specifically online donations, are managed through the national Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America, which is TRUSTe certified, and subject to the privacy policy of the national Make-A-Wish Foundation of America.  All transactions use an encrypted channel, take place on secure servers and occur in real time. No financial data, such as your credit card number, is transferred via a less-secure channel, such as encrypted e-mail, for processing.  Moreover, once your transaction has been completed, your credit card number is not retained.

Personal contact information we collect and what we do with it
When you are making a donation, expressing an interest in referring a wish child, submitting one of our online forms, we ask you for personal contact information, including your name, mailing address, phone number and e-mail address.  We will use this contact information to provide you with information or resources you have requested, such as information about the Foundation, a receipt or a financial report, or we will use your information to contact you to clarify or verify other information, such as an order you placed or a wish child that you have referred.

When you make a donation or become an active volunteer for the Foundation, we will add your name and contact information to our mailing list.  If you are included on our mailing list, then you may receive news about the Foundation and information on how you can support the organization's mission.  We will never solicit you.  You can choose at any time to opt-out of our mailing list by contacting boston@massri.wish.org.

If you are on our postal mailing list, we may contact you from time to time to offer you services from third parties that will directly benefit the Foundation.

The Foundation feels strongly that your personal data should only be seen by you, unless you choose to share it with others.  We will never sell, rent, license or exchange personally identifiable data with a third party without your permission.  Personal contact information is not shared with any organization outside of the Foundation or our national organization, the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America, and our agents (reputable companies we use for services, such as shipping Foundation products or sending Foundation mail).  We have contracts to protect your privacy with all of our agents.

The Foundation will only disclose personally identifiable data without your permission in the following limited circumstances: (a) if the Foundation is required to do so by law, or (b) if the Foundation has the good faith belief that such action is necessary to conform to applicable laws or comply with legal process served on the Foundation, or to protect and defend the rights or property of the Foundation or to enforce these terms and policies.

Other contact information we collect and what we do with it
In some instances, we ask for contact information for people other than yourself – for example, the mailing address of someone you wish to have us notify.  Such contact information is never shared with any other organization. In some instances, we may add contact information to our mailing list to share news about the Foundation and information about how to support the Foundation’s mission.  You may specify that we do not add such information to our mailing list by contacting boston@massri.wish.org.
